Chapter 1 "Crazy Baby the spirit with all the motion that lets me feel devotion and everyday I always love you!" Sky sang as the music 'Crazy Baby' by Project Fantasy blasted in his ears. Sky danced down the street as he got many looks from passer-byers. He didn't care. He just wanted to sing and dance all day. "Baby so let me see the fire! Better step a little higher and everyday I keep on movin'!"
"Hey watch it!" A tall man exclaimed as Sky plowed into him.
"Sorry." Sky apologized and continued dancing down the street.
He was on his way to Kai's house from school. It had been a long day and he hadn't seen Kai at school, which meant he was sick. Sky stopped in his tracks, turned on his heel, and headed into a bakery. He eyed all the different treats he wanted to stuff down his throat.
"I want that!" Sky said excitedly as he pointed at some chocolate chip cookies. "Kai will love those."
Sky ran out of the bakery his paper bag full of cookies. He ran and ran. Just a little further, he thought. He rounded the corner and stopped to a halt. Sky smiled and ran up to the door quickly ringing to doorbell several times. He could hear feet slowly dragging themselves to the door and there he stood. A sickly looking Kai.
"Kai!" Sky wrapped his arms around his pal, but quickly let go. "I don't want to get sick sorry."
"That's fine. I understand. Come on in." Kai said turning around slowly and heading upstairs.
Sky followed closely behind up to his friend's room. They went in quietly and Sky sat next to his friend on the bed. He fiddled with the ends of the paper bag and felt sweat down the back of his neck.
"Oh! Here, these are for you." Sky said smiling brightly. " So how you been feeling lately?"
Kai looked at Sky as if that was the dumbest question he had ever heard, but paid no attention to how obvious it was and answered, "I'm sick. I feel awful."
Kai took the bag of cookies and pulled one out. He scarfed the cookie down and lied down on his bed huddled up to his pillow. Kai always slept in the most awkward ways. Sky should know. He had to sleep in the same bed once and Kai had his knees in his face. He always curled into a little ball and clung to his pillow.
Sky on the other hand always sprawled out all over the bed. Sky tossed and turned, kicked and punched, he was never still.
Sky laughed at the thought. He remembered it clearly. It was a school field trip to the beach for the study of sea life. They stayed in hotels for three nights. Two to a room. The school had rented the whole hotel and realized they had way to many rooms. So to not waste money spent they made it two to a room filling up every room available. It was just Kai and himself. Unfortunatly they were stuck in a room with one bed. They had no problem sleeping in the same bed, but dreaded hitting each other in their sleep.
Sky giggled as he got looks of confusion from Kai.
"What's wrong with you?" Kai asked with dark circles under his half closed eyes.
"Just thinking." Sky smiled. "Didn't you sleep last night?"
"Uh-huh." Kai lied drowning his head back into his pillow.
"Liar." Sky said seeing through Kai's miserable try of a lie.
Sky sat there for what he thought to be hours. He stared carelessly at the sleeping boy curled up on the faded quilt. He finally fell backwards and pulled his arms under his head as a pillow.
"So.." Sky said, "how long do you think you'll be out of school?"
"I'm not sure. I want be there tomorrow." Kai said opening one eye to look at his friend.
Sky nodded in understanding and sat up. He looked at Kai and moved his self to lay in front of him. He stared at the boy and observed as Kai's cheeks to be turning a warm red with each passing second. Sky looked at him questionably and got closer to Kai's face. His own cheeks stayed their usual tan selves as Kai's turned crimson.
"You OK?" Sky asked nearing Kai's face.
Kai nodded and shifted his eyes to look past Sky. His cheeks slowly turned back to their normal pale color. Once he felt his cheeks cool he looked at Sky again who was about an inch away from his face. He closed the gap and let his forehead rest against Sky's forehead.
Kai didn't move but looked at his friend with blood shot eyes.
Sky felt his eyes become heavy and the last thing he remembered was two red eyes staring into his own red ones.
"Wake up." Kai touched his friend's shoulder lightly shaking him. "Come on. You got to get up."
Sky groaned and opened his eyes with difficulty. He looked around and found the clock on the wall above Kai's desk. Six o'clock.
"I slept for two hours?" Sky asked.
"More like fourteen hours." Kai giggled. "It's six in the morning."
Sky jumped out of bed with wide eyes, "Six in the morning! We have school today! I don't have any clothes! I have to go home, take a shower, get ready, and try to get to school in time for the bell. I'm going to be so late!"
"Relax!" Kai said smiling. "You can take a shower here and borrow my clothes. Now hurry up or you will be late for school."
Sky took a deep breath and slumped back into the bed. "Why can't it be Saturday? I don't feel like going to school today."
"Then don't." Kai said laying beside Sky.
Sky looked at Kai bewildered, "A straight A student who is never late or absent unless they are deathly ill is telling me to skip school. What the hell happened to you?"
Kai sighed, "Well you haven't been absent many days this year. Plus it's Thursday. No test today."
Sky smiled, "Well, well, Mr. Kuromori a.k.a goody tooshoe is telling me the upsides of skipping school."
Kai rolled his eyes and rolled over to where Sky couldn't see his face.
Sky giggled and jumped on top his friend. Kai looked up startled at his friend's actions. Sky rolled off and sat up.
"So what's for breakfast?" Sky laughed.
Kai sat up unwillingly and looked at Sky, "Sleep."
"Oh come on! I'm hungry! Cook me something! Please?" Sky jumped up and bounced up with so much energy it made Kai feel even more wore out.
"Don't jump please. You'll wake up my brother." Kai said standing up stretching.
"Sorry." Sky said.
"No problem. Let's head downstairs. I'll cook you breakfast."
Sky bounded downstairs to the kitchen and waited patiently on Kai to catch up. Kai walked in with a tall man standing beside him.
The man's hair was as white as Sky's and his eyes were an icy blue. He walked in and sat down beside Sky at the table.
"What do you guys want for breakfast?" The man said looking at Sky with confusion. "What are you doing here anyway Sky?"
"Sorry Kite. I sort of feel asleep here and somebody didn't wake me up." Sky looked at his friend and gave a slight smile.
"That's OK. You should be getting ready for school you know." Kite said.
"I'm actually not going today." Sky said weakly.
"You sick too?"
"No. Just tired."
"You don't look it."
Sky just looked at his friend's older brother with shock. Was he investigating him? Kite had never asked so many questions. Sky felt as if he was being backed into a corner with no escape.
"Calm down bro. He just fell asleep and isn't feeling good enough to go to school." Kai said in Sky's defense.
"Sorry Sky. I'm just..." Kite stopped to think and lie, "tired."
Sky saw through the lie and smiled shyly.
Kai walked over to his brother and whispered something in his ear. Kite's face showed relief.
"Sit down I'll cook breakfast for you two." Kite said smiling a bright smile.
Sky looked at him with confusion. Kite walked over to the fridge and grabbed 6 eggs, bacon, butter, milk, cheese, and ham. "How about some omlets with toast and bacon?"
"That sounds great." Kai said sniffling. "Is that ok Sky?"
"Yeah." Sky said with a hint of nervousness in his voice. His eyes wandered to Kite who was getting out the bread. He then looked over at Kai who was sitting beside him. Sky leaned closer to Kai. "What did I do to make your bro mad?"
Kai looked at Sky with crimson cheeks and whispered. "I'll tell you later." Sky nodded.
After about fiften minutes of cooking it was finally ready.
"Here you go." Kite said with a smile on his face. He then walked out of the room.
Sky and Kai began to eat in silence until Kite walked back into the room.
"I'm off to work ok?" Kite said running his long fingers through his hair. He pulled on a black jacket and slipped on some boots. Walking over to his brother he gave him a kiss on the forehead and pat on the head. He turned and walked to the door, but gave a little wave before exiting the house.
"What was your brother so mad at before? I thought he was going to kick me out of the house or something and yell at me to go to school," Sky said with a heavy sigh. "You know the school will be calling my house right?"
"Yeah and I already took care of it," Kai said in a more cheery mood. "I called your mom and told her that you came down with a cold. I told her that I didn't want to wake you so that my bro would give u a lift home when he gets off work."
"Well that was a smooth move," Sky chuckled. "So what was your bro mad at?"
Kai blushed a deep crimson. "Sky if I tell you you won't talk to me anymore."
"That's ubsurd! Your my best friend! I'll always talk to you no matter what, " Sky said with a great big smile. "Besides I'm sure it can't be that bad right?"
"W-well. I'm sort of not into only girls. If-if you know what I mean." Kai said with a deep red spread across his face.
"That's it??" Sky laughed so hard he almost burst a lung. "Thank god! I thought I was the only one at our school!!"
Kai looked up with total shock on his face, "Your gay?"
"Well not totally, just bi, I'm still into girls ya know."
"Yeah same here."
"OH! So that's why your bro was mad! He thought you had done 'the dirty!''"Sky said with a voice a creepy perv would say to a young child.
"Don't say it that way! And never EVER call it 'the dirty' again."
"OK then what do you want me to call it?"
"Nothing! We're not even supposed to be talking about it so just change the subject."
Sky stood up from the table and leaned close to Kai's ear, "'The Dirty.'" Sky laughed as he ran out of the kitchen before Kai could get a good swing at him.
"Come back here you!" Kai said jumping up from his seat and chasing after Sky.
As Kai ran out the kitchen door he was tackled by Sky to the couch. He pounced on top of him and stuck his tounge out at him.
"I may be shorter, but I"m stronger than you." Sky laughed.
"Yeah right!" Kai snorted as he rolled Sky over and pinned him down. "Your short and weaker than me."
Kai jumped off his friend and sat beside him in the floor of apartment. He looked around at their run down home. In the corner of the ceiling the room looked as if it would begin to leak soon. Some of the floor boards were halfway pulled up. The walls were a sickening white and then some of the walls were cracked. He let out a sigh at his home's appearance. His brother tried so hard to give him a home and food. He hardly saw his brother. When he did see his brother it was a miracle considering his brother worked two jobs. One was being the bus boy at the restruant right around the corner and the other job was working at a run down bar that usually got 5 customers a day. He wished god would give his brother a break so he could spend time with him. Soon he himself would be applying for a job to help pay bills and pay for college. He didn't notice, but tears had began to run down his cheeks. He quickly wipped them away so Sky wouldn't see. It was too late. Sky had seen.
"Are you OK?" Sky said moving closer to his friend. He sat facing his friend.
"Yeah I-I"m fine." Kai said wipping away the rest of his tears and pasting a fake smile on his face.
"What's bothering you?" Sky said with a worried expression.
"Nothing. Don't worry about it."
"I'm going to worry I'm your friend."
Kai looked at him as his smile was forced into a frown by his emotions overwelming him. He flung his arms around Sky's neck and dug his face into Sky's collar bone.
Sky was taken by surprise, but quickly wrapped his arms around his friend and pulled him into his lap and stroking his back to calm him. "It's ok to cry. Don't hold it in. Shhhhh... What's wrong?"
Kai's sobbing slowed, but he didn't move. "I-I j-just miss-s my brother-er being w-with me. H-he's al-always g-gone."
Sky layed his head ontop of Kai's and rocked his friend back and forth. "It's ok. I'm here."
Sky's eyes closed and so did Kai's as they both feel asleep.
Chapter 2 "Hey what are we learning again?" Hikaru whispered to her friend Ren.
Ren looked up from her drawing and smiled a shy smile, "We're learning shading. Try listening." Ren laughed as her white hair swung infront of her heart shaped face.
Hikaru nodded and smoothed her black hair back out of her face to see what she had done so far. A drawing of three girls were on her desk. It was Ren, her friend Gina, and herself. They were dressed in the clothes she had seen them wearing today. She was wearing the same thing in her drawing that she was wearing now too. Which was baggy black pants and a long sleeved black shirt with red stripes. She had even drawn her wrist bands. Three black bracelets on the left arm and one thicked bracelet with spikes on her right wrist. She then glanced at Ren's outfit that was a black t-shirt with a long sleeved shirt under it and blue jeans with holes. She was also wearing her cross necklace. Last, but not least Gina was wearing a black mini skirt and a black leather corset. Gina's boots went up to her knees and she wore many bracelets of red and black.
Ren looked over at the picture and smiled, "That's really good!"
"Thanks yours too!" Hikaru giggled. She looked at Ren's picture which was one of Mr. Kisaki teaching the class about shading. She gave a wicked smile in Ren's direction. "You have a crush on the teacher don't you?"
Ren blushed madly, "No no! I don't know what your talking about! That would be just plain weird!"
"Well then," Hikaru smiled and raised her hand. "Mr. Kisaki! Ren needs your help with shading."
Ren blushed as Mr. Kisaki turned toward her and walked up to her. His walk was smooth and graceful. He wore a red tie, a white button up shirt, and black pants.
"Thank you Ms. Kasumi, but I think Ms. Masuyo is capable of raising her own hand," Mr. Kisaki said with a playful smile. "So what is it that you needed help with?"
Ren looked down at her work, "Uh, n-nothing."
Mr. Kisaki gave her a funny look then smiled, "Well may I see what you've drawn? Your a very talented artist."
Ren blushed and moved her hands away from her drawing so Mr. Kisaki could see.
"It's very well drawn and you're getting better at the shading," Mr. Kisaki said picking up the picture which caused Ren to feel sweat on the back of her neck. "Now may I see yours Ms. Kasumi?"
Hikaru handed Mr. Kisaki her picture and smiled, proud of her work.
"It's very good as well," Mr. Kisaki smiled and leaned downed so only Hikaru and Ren could hear. "Don't tell the others, but you two are my favorite artist here."
Mr. Kisaki stood up straight showing his pearly whites. He handed them back their pictures and went back to his desk to finish up some paperwork.
"See you do like him," Hikaru said. "Your face was tomato red the whole time."
Ren ignored her friend and continued drawing looking up at Mr. Kisaki once in awhile to see what he was doing. Her face grew bright red as her eyes met his. She looked down quickly trying to shrug it off. After a few minutes had passed she looked up again to see Mr. Kisaki still looking at her. She looked down at her work and then looked to the side at Hikaru and whispered, "He's staring."
Hikaru glanced at Mr. Kisaki out of the corner of her eye. He was staring. Hikaru smiled, "Because he likes you too."
"He's like twenty years old!" Ren blushed. "Besides what would he want with a sixteen year old girl?"
"Well he's acctually twenty-one and maybe he's just some old perv." Hikaru giggled.
"I don't think he would be a perv. I'm only five years younger and like they say 'Age is a Percpective.'"
"So you are going to try and go out with him huh?"
"No no! I just...I don't know."
Hikaru smiled at her friend and continued working.
The class seemed to go by quick after that. Ren and Hikaru had finished their drawings barely in time. The clock showed 2:50pm. Art was their last class of the day. The bell rang for dismissel and Hikaru hurried out the door with Ren close behind.
"Ms. Masuyo! Could I talk to you before you leave?" Mr. Kisaki said jumping up from his desk. His midnight blue eyes didn't match his beautiful smile. They looked tired and worn out. Like all the joy had been sucked out of them.
"Yes Mr. Kisaki?" Ren said turning to her teacher.
"Come sit here Ms. Masuyo." Mr. Kisaki said.
Ren took a seat and waited for what Mr. Kisaki had to say. She looked around as her foot went up and down rapidly. Her knee hit the table everytime it went up and down, but the pain was nothing compared to being a-
"Ms. Masuyo," Mr. Kisaki began, "I have some papers I would like you to look at. It's about an art contest. I thought you would like to enter. It could help to get you a scollarship to an art institute. If that's what you want to pursue as a career."
Ren took the papers. Her eyes went wide as she saw the two thousand dollar prize money. "Do you realy win two thousand dollars???"
Mr. Kisaki smiled, "Yes. I'm guessing you want to enter?"
Ren nodded with excitment, "I could really use the money."
"Want some new electronic?" Mr. Kisaki chuckled.
"Not exactly," Ren blushed. "Can I keep these?"
"Of course," Mr. Kisaki answered, "and I thought you would say yes. So I've already entered your name. You just have to draw something. It can be anything you want."
Ren smiled cheerfully, "OK! Thank you so much Mr. Kisaki!"
"Your welcome. You have to have the picture in before the end of this month OK?"
"Yeah! I'll get started right away!" Ren jumped up from her seat and headed toward the door.
"If I may ask. What are you planning on buying with that money?" Mr. Kisaki said with intrest.
"I'll see you tomorrow Mr. Kisaki," Ren said with a depressed look on her face as she exited the classroom.
Mr. Kisaki smiled and sat on his desk. His smile quickly faded and he rubbed his fingers through his shaggy jet black hair. While it was long and straight in the front it was spiked out in the back. His eyes drifted to Ren's desk. A picture sat on her desk. He slowly got up and walked over to the desk. The picture was a different one than she had been working on earlier. It was one of himself sitting at his desk reading a book like he did everyday. He smiled once again. "What a sweet girl." His cheeks became warm at the spoken words and placed the picture down on his own desk. He looked at her empty desk. He missed her everyday she left, but knew it was a feeling he shouldn't be feeling. Escpecially for one of his students, but she was only five years younger. It wasn't that big of difference. He let out a sigh and sat back down at his desk.
Ren looked through her bookbag as she and Hikaru walked down the streets. "No! I forgot my picture!"
Hikaru glanced at her friend, "Don't worry it should still be there by tomorrow."
"But it was a picture of Mr. Kisaki!" Ren exclaimed.
"So you do like Mr. Kisaki?" A girl said walking up to them. She had plantium blonde hair with a big black chunk in the bangs. "Hikaru and I knew it the whole time!"
"Gina! That's not true! I don't!" Ren said in her defense.
"Well I bet Mr. Kisaki likes you," He tells his other classes all about you and lets us look at your pictures as examples.
"That doesn't mean he likes me." Ren said with a little bit of hope that Mr. Kisaki really did like her. She stopped and turned to her friends. "Do you think I should go back and get the picture?"
"I say we go. I'm in no hurry to get home!" Gina said with delight.
"Me either," Hikaru agreed.
They all three turned around and headed back to school at a fast jog. Their boots made a scrapping noise against the pavement as their jog started to become a full on run.
Gina's long hair whipped infront of her face as she ran infront of Ren and Hikaru. She was the fastest of the three girls. Hikaru was the second fastest. Ren strayed near the back keeping an even speed and tried not to wear herself out. She wasn't lazy or out of shape, but her body was not meant for long distance running. Ren and Gina had hour glass shape bodies while their friend Hikaru had less curves.
They ran up to the school doors and unfortunatly they were locked. All three girls sat on the steps to think.
"Isn't their a door to Mr. Kisaki's room from the outside?" Gina said with a smile. "Yeah!" Hikaru said.
"Lets go then!" Ren said jumping up and running around the side of the building. After a few minutes they found the door to Mr. Kisaki's room and the good news was he was still their, but the bad news was he had headphones on.
"Do you think he can hear us knock?" Hikaru said beginning to knock on the gray metal door. Mr. Kisaki looked up to see all three girls outside. He took off his headphones and walked up to the door and began to unlock it with one of his keys . "I'm guessing he could hear us," Gina giggled.
"Is their something I can help you with girls?" Mr. Kisaki said with his head stuck out the door.
"Yeah I left a picture here," Ren said. "Sorry to trouble you."
"No problem," Mr. Kisaki said opening the door so the girls could come in. Ren walked in, but her friends stayed where they were.
"We'll met you at the usual spot Ren!" Gina said as she and Hikaru turned and ran off.
"Some friends," Ren muttered.
Ren looked up at Mr. Kisaki to see him staring at her. She looked away and went to her desk to find the picture was missing. "Oh no! I think someone took it...oohh."
"No it's right here." Mr. Kisaki said walking up to Ren with the picture in hand. "Here you go."
Ren took the picture with a light shade of pink across her face. She stood still for a moment as if waiting for something to happen. She then looked up to Mr. Kisaki who was staring at her with the eyes she had seen earlier. Those eyes that looked as if they had had the joy sucked right out of them.
"Mr. Kisaki may I ask what's wrong?" Ren asked shyly.
"Huh? Oh nothing," Mr. Kisaki said, "and call me Kyle."
"Huh? O-Ok Mr- I mean Kyle," Ren said with a tomato red face.
"If you don't mind would you stay and help me with some paper work?" Mr. Kisaki asked with a pink shade across his face. "I know it would be completely inappropriate, but it would help me out alot if you would help me grade these test on the history of art you took two days ago."
"S-sure," Ren blushed. "No problem."
"Thanks!" Kyle said with a bright smile.
They walked over to his desk and Kyle pulled up a chair for Ren to sit in next to him. The desk was very messy and unorganized. It looked as if a wild animal would jump out at you at any moment.
Kyle saw the look Ren gave his desk and said, "Yes I know it's a junk yard."
Ren giggled, "Well I'm not a very good cleaner either."
Kyle smiled and this time the smile reached his eyes. His eyes showed that joy they used to, but the joyful eyes were short lived as they slowly turned back into the lifeless midnight blue hues she had been seeing more and more of everyday. He reached over his desk and set a pile of papers infront of Ren. "Thanks for helping me."
"Don't worry about it. I'm in no hurry to get home." Ren said, but regreted it as she looked at the expression on Kyle's face.
"I know I'm being nosey, but," Kyle said, "Is something going on at home?"
Ren blushed and turned away from Kyle as tears began to sting her face. She remembered Gina had told her to be strong and right now she was the opposite of that.
"Ren are you ok?" Kyle asked in a gentle voice, "You can tell me I promise not to tell anyone. I'm speaking as a friend not a teacher."
Ren looked at Kyle with tears streaming down her cheeks.
Kyle had a worried look on his face. "Please tell me."
"I c-can't," Ren said still sobbing.
Kyle did the unthinkable and wrapped his arms around Ren in a tight embrace. "Sshhh...don't cry..it's alright."
Ren wrapped her arms around Kyle cried into his shoulder. "I w-wish I-I could-d tell y-you."
"You can tell me anything," Kyle said laying his head ontop of Ren's.
They never finished grading the papers and Ren never told her seceret, but Kyle did stay with her until 8pm that day.
Kyle looked up at the clock and it showed eight pm. "It's getting late. Do you want me to drop you off somewhere? I'll give you a lift."
Ren nodded letting go of Kyle. She regretted letting go, because the warmth of Kyle's embrace dissappeared along with feeling of being safe. She stood up and looked at Kyle with an appoligatic look, "I'm sorry about that and I'm sorry I kept you from your work and just caused you more trouble."
"No no! It was no trouble at all!" Kyle said with a fake smile. "I just wish I could help you more. Just know if you ever wanna talk I'm here and not as a teacher, but as a friend."
Ren nodded and smiled as Kyle wrapped his arms around her shoulders and held her close to his body.
They walked out of the room and locked up before going to Kyle's car. It was a very nice Honda Acord.
"What year is it? The car I mean." Ren said looking at the shinny new car.
"This year, 2007." Kyle smiled proud of his car. He walked over to the passangers side and oppened the door for Ren.
Ren jumped in the passangers side and felt the soft seat against her body. It was comfy enough to fall asleep and she did just that.
Kyle looked in amazment at the girl asleep in his car. He smiled, hopped into his seat, and cranked the car. He had forgotten to ask Ren where she wanted to be dropped off. He gently shook the passanger awake and whispered, "Where to?"
Ren opened her eyes, "Here is fine."
"We haven't even moved Ren. Are you even planning on going home tonight?" Kyle asked with a serious face.
"Like my parents will notice I"m gone." Ren said with sadness in her voice.
"I bet they will."
"Trust me they won't. I've stayed gone for a we-" Ren stopped mid-sentence and looked at Kyle. "Don't tell. Please!"
Kyle looked surprised, "I won't, but where are you going to go?"
"I don't know," Ren said with even more sadness in her voice.
"How about you stay at my place?" Kyle said looking at Ren with pity. "I know it's not right considering I'm your teacher, but it will give you a place to stay with food and a shower."
Ren blushed and nodded on the brink of tears, "T-thank you s-so m-much."
Kyle smiled with those joyful eyes, "It's no problem."
They continued to Kyle's apartment which wasn't a half bad of a place to live. Ren had fallen asleep in the car so Kyle picked her up carefully to not wake her and carried her into his apartment. He set her on his sofa and placed a blanket ontop of her. Before leaving her side to take a shower he brushed some hair out of Ren's face which was a bad move considering she woke up.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to wake you." Kyle appolagized.
"It's OK. Um, d-do you mind if I take a shower?" Ren blushed.
"Of course not. Come on." Kyle lead Ren past his bedroom to the bathroom were a shower/bath was. He took out a towl and layed it on the counter infront of the shower. "Uh you can wear some of my clothes. I'll be right back."
Ren took off her black jacket and placed it on the counter beside the towl. She looked around at the blue walls not a single crack. She then looked at the curtains that surrounded the shower. They were also blue but with stripes of lighter blue. So Mr.Kisaki, I mean Kyle, has good taste for decorating? Ren thought with a smile pasted on her face.
"Here you go." Kyle said walking back into the bathroom with what looked like a black shirt and white boxers with red hearts. "Sorry, but this is the only thing that is clean. I really need to do some laundry."
"I'll do it for you!" Ren said.
"No no! I'll do later."
"It's the least I can do for all that happened today." Ren smiled.
Kyle smiled back, "We'll do it together ok?"
Ren nodded as Kyle walked out of the bathroom.
After a nice relaxing shower Ren stepped out of the bathroom with damp hair and the clothes that Kyle had given her. It was around ten o'clock now. She went into the living room to see Kyle sitting on the couch with damp hair and pj's on too. "So you have two bathrooms?"
Kyle looked up to see Ren in his shirt and boxers which caused him to blush, "Yeah, I have one in my room too."
Ren went and sat beside Kyle to watch tv. Surprisingly Kyle was watching Spongebob Squarpants on Nickelodeon.
"You watch Spongebob?" Ren asked.
"Yeah, I guess it's kind of childesh of me huh?"
"No. Not really. Adults are allowed to act like kids sometimes."
Kyle smiled and found himself staring at Ren. His cheeks grew warm and he found himself leaning in closer to Ren's face, but stopped when Ren turned toward him with crimson cheeks. They stared at each other for what seemed like hours, but was actually a few minutes. Kyle leaned even closer until their lips touched. The kiss was just a peck, but was warm and caring. Kyle leaned in again for another kiss, but stopped himself and leaned back, "Sorry!"
Ren looked at Kyle with yearning for another kiss, but shook it off, "It's ok."
Kyle looked at Ren's saddened eyes. "Ren?"
"Yeah?" Ren said with hope in her eyes.
"Do you like me? More than a friend?"
Ren blushed at the question, "I-I.."
Kyle smiled and leaned in to kiss Ren once more before wrapping his arms around her waist to deepen the kiss.
Ren was like a statue hopping it wasn't all just a dream. She moved her arms around Kyle's neck holding on tightly so he would not fade away. He cheeks grew warmer as she felt Kyle rubbing his hands through her hair.
Kyle broke the kiss and leaned his forehead against Ren's. They both layed on the couch facing each other and soon found themselves falling into a deep and comfortable sleep.
Chapter 3 "So what are we going to do now?" Hikaru asked taking another drag on her cigeratte. The room was thick with smoke and smelled to high heaven.
"I don't know it's already ten-thirty and I'll be wanting to sleep soon." Gina said flipping a piece of hair out of her face. "Lets just stay here for the night and go to my place in the morning to get a change of clothes and a shower alright?"
"Sounds good to me." Hikaru said putting out her cigeratte in an ash tray next to her arm chair. She looked at the red door that lead outside.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"What's the password??" Gina yelled at the stranger behind the door.
"Red! Now let me in!" Screamed a male voice.
Gina stood up and unlocked the door. She pulled at the handle with both hands as it slowly creaked open. She relaxed and looked at the two boys that stood outside in the cold. One had white hair that went in every direction and piercing crimson eyes. The other had dark blue hair that was a similar style to the other boys. He also had red eyes, but they were a lighter shade.
"Hey." Kai said as he walked in the door with Sky by his side. "So where's Ren?"
"Who knows the last time we saw her she was with Mr. Kasaki," Hikaru said looking at the two boys who were bundled up in their warm clothes. "What are you guys doing here? Shouldn't you be at home?"
"My brother want be home till around one in the morning and Sky will probably be staying at my house," Kai said sitting on the worn up sofa. "So what are you guys doing here?"
"You know damn well why we're here," Gina said with a frown. "Like anyone cares where we are or what we do."
"We care," Sky said looking up at Gina with a smile.
Gina gave a quick smile and sat back on the floor. She picked up her pencil and paper and continued writting like she had before the boys showed up. Her mind raced as she skribbled on the paper. She wrote for about an hour as the others sat around listening to hard core metal music on their radio.
Sky looked at Gina writting and smiled. He stood up with his blanket and went to sit beside Gina on the floor.
"Cold?" Sky asked as he wrapped he blanket around both their shoulders. His arm rest on her shoulder while holding the blanket up so it would not fall off.He glanced at her writting. He couldn't see for she closed the book as soon as she felt his eyes on the paper. "Sorry."
"It's ok," Gina said putting her book down and leaning against Sky. She nuzzled her head into this collar bone as she got closer to Sky.
Sky blushed and wrapped his other arm around the front of Gina as if hugging her. He put his head ontop of hers and looked at the small fire they had going in the fireplace.
Kai looked at the two with jealousy. He did not like Sky hugging other people who liked him. He felt his cheeks warm with anger. Then he felt someone sit beside him. It was Hikaru.
Hikaru looked at Kai with a confused expression. "You look...jealous maybe?"
Kai blushed and looked down. "No."
"Yeah you are," Hikaru said smirking, "you like Gina don't you?"
"No no!! No way!" Kai said waving his hands infront of his face.
"Huh? So do you like Sky then?" Hikaru said with wide eyes.
Kai glanced up at the clock ti was already eleven-thirty in the morning, "Hey Sky! I think we need to head home it'll take us an hour to walk home and your brother won't want to see us up at this time."
Sky looked at the clock with a frigtened face, "Lets go! Come on hurry!"
Both Sky and Kai ran out of the run down house.
Once out of the building they ran at a fast jog down the streets. Kai began to fall behind gasping for air.
"Come on! We can't slow down!" Sky said in a panicked state. He grabbed Kai by the arm and pulled it over his shoulder. "Jump on! I can run for awhile with you on my back."
Kai looked at Sky in amazement, "You can't carry me I'm too heavy for you."
"Just get on!" Sky said in frustration.
Kai nodded and jumped on Sky's back. He smelled the fruity scented shampo that Sky had used at his house before leaving. He bounced up and down once in awhile as Sky speed up. He moved his head to Sky's neck and closed his eyes feeling the soft skin against his cheek. Suddenly they stopped infront of an old destroyed appartment building. It was Kai's so called home.
Kai jumped down and looked at Sky who was panting out of breath. Sky's knees shook and his hands trembled. Kai grabbed a hold of Sky and picked him up bridle style. He walked up to the door and Sky opened it for him.
Once they were inside the appartment, that was two stair cases up, Kai put Sky down on the couch.
Kai looked at the clock it was twelve-fiften. Kai looked at Sky who was trying to keep his eyes open. He then slumped down on the couch with Sky and started coughing violently.
"Oh god..," Sky mumbled, "don't tell me your even sicker? Now there's coughing."
"It's nothing," Kai said reasurring Sky. "At least your mom said you could stay the night since you were "sick" too. I guess she didn't want to get "sick.""
"Well I sorta think I am sick now," Sky said. "I don't feel so great."
Kai looked at Sky and felt his forehead. He was burning up! "Your running a tempature."
"Nah dip," Sky grumbled.
"Ok Mr. Grumpy now lets get you into some pjs." Kai said giggling.
Sky sat up unwillingly, walked into Kai's bedroom, and shut the door behind him. Several minutes later he came out in black boxers and a orange t-shirt. "Your turn."
Kai got up and dragged his feet into this bedroom. Another few minutes passed and he came out wearing red boxers and a black t-shirt. "Now lets go to bed."
Sky agreed and was the first one to flop down on the bed. He snuggled up close to Kai hoping for more heat besides what the covers gave.
Kai looked at Sky and put his forehead against his as he had done the night before. He watched his white haired friend sleep for awhile before he himself fell asleep. Kite walked into his appartment and heard the light snorring of Sky in Kai's bedroom. "So he's staying again? Hope to god he's not moving in!" Kite thought running his hands through his hair. He walked up to his brothers bedroom and opened the door slowly not to wake them.
Kai was curled up in a ball close to his pillow and Sky had one arm drapped over Kai's waist. Sky slept on his stomach with his face smushed into the pillow muffling his loud snoring. Kite's eyes went wide and he slowly shut the door. 'He's gotta go.' Kite thought.
Kite went into his own bedroom and changed into his black boxers. He wore nothing else, but a black choker neckace. It was just a ribbon tied into a knot and the only way to get it off was to cut it. He refused to cut it off, because his little brother was the one who placed it there a year ago. He had placed a black ribbon on his brother's neck also. On the back of his and his brother Kai's black ribbons it said "Love you Forever and Ever Brother." Kite smiled at the thought as he rubbed his neck where the ribbon was tied. He looked around his small room and went into the bathroom. It was so small you could hardly turn around in it. He looked at the shower and thought about taking one, but changed his mind and went to lay down in his bed. The springs groaned in pain as his weight was dropped onto the bed. He slept on his stomach with his head facing the door and his arms under his pillow. His blue eyes felt heavy as he fell into a deep peaceful sleep. Chapter 4Kai woke up to feel something gripping his waist. It was Sky's arm. He blushed and wiggled under the arm. He felt awkward with the arm there. It was a good awkward, but it brought up an unfamilier feeling that made his stomach fill with butterflies.
Sky slowly woke up and sucked in alot of air through his nose while rubbing his eyes. He let out a yawn and realized where his arm was. He looked at Kai to see he was awake. His eyes went wide as he saw Kai blushing, "Sorry." Sky moved his arm and sat up unwillingly.
"It's ok." Kai's face turned back to it's pale color and he looked at his best friend in the world. Kai coughed a few times and grabbed a tissue that was on his night stand.
"It wasn't a good idea to go outside that late." Sky mumbled putting his hand to his head as he felt a thumping on the side of his head. "I've got a major headache."
Kai sat up and pulled the covers closer to him. He looked over at Sky who moved closer to him. He felt Sky's arm wrap around him and pull him closer.
Sky looked at his shivering friend and put his hand to Kai's forehead. "Your burning up." Sky got out of bed slowly and went to the closet where he pulled out two pairs of sweat pants and two hoodies. One hoodie was Blue and the other was Yellow. Both pairs of sweat pants where black. "Pick a color."
Kai shrugged, "Yellow."
Sky went over to Kai with the yellow hoodie and put it over Kai's head. He helped his friend get his arms through the hoodie and then brought over the pants and helped him with those also. After helping Kai he put on the other hoodie and sweat pants. He then went and sat beside Kai. He sneezed and rubbed his nose with the back of his hand.
"Atleast use a tisue," Kai said disgusted as he handed Sky a tissue.
"Thanks."
They then heard a knock on the door.
"Come in," Kai said getting under the covers with Sky.
Kite walked in and saw the two teenagers huddled under the covers shaking. "What's wrong?" "We're sick," Sky said in a cracking voice.
Kite walked over to the two and felt their heads. They were sick. Kite let out a sigh and looked at the two. He didn't want to the leave the two alone, but he needed to go to work. "I think i'll take the day off from work."
Kai's eyes went wide, "Are you serious?!"
Kite nodded, "Yeah I am. I need to get you two better so you can go back to school." Kai wrapped his arms around his brothers waist and pulled him onto the bed, "I can't believe your staying."
Kite smile weakly at his brother and hugged him back. His heart was happy, but he knew the affect of staying home would be another month behind rent. "Yeah I am."
Sky smiled at the scene and pulled his knees to his chest wishing that Kai and Kite could be together more often. He looked up to see the brothers break the hug and look at him.
"Ok so..it looks like you have a cold, maybe I should give you..advil or tylenol?" Kite looked puzzled he wasn't used to taking care of his brother. Kai was rarely sick and it was only for a day.
Kai smiled at Sky. "What you want to do? Sleep?"
"If you want Sky I'll give you some covers to sleep on the couch," Kite said with hope in his voice.
"No. He can stay in here he's sick and it's even colder in the living room than in here," Kai said.
"Fine, but you two need to go to sleep. I'll be right back with some advil." Kite kissed his brother on the forehead and gave Sky a nod as he walked out of the room to retrive the medicine. He rubbed his long fingers through his hair like he did everyday and grabbed two glasses of water and two advils. 'Sky needs to go home...and soon.,' Kite thought as he walked out of the kitchen and back into the boys room.
Kai was looking at Sky's nails that were painted black with a white dot on his middle finger. "What's the dot for?"
"Uh..heh...for um..flipping off people," Sky mumbled nervously looking at Kite out of the corner of his eye.
Both teens took their pills and covered themselves with the covers going back into their deep state of sleep which they had been in earlier that day.
